Child Welfare, Bloemfontein, is a private welfare organisation that aims to ensure the safety of children and families requiring social services. A comprehensive child and family care service is offered by ten social workers to, at this stage, more than 3000 families which include 4034 children. |

- Child Welfare, Bloemfontein celebrated its 90th birthday. A lot has been achieved in the past 90 years and Bloemfontein Child Welfare has been responsible for the establishment of many upliftment programmes in the community
- Child Welfare has taken a leading roll in the welfare field in Bloemfontein and is a well known respected organisation with a healthy reputation

- Comprehensive services- These include prevention, early intervention and statutory work
- HIV/Aids services- These services consist of services to orphans (currently more than 800 children), home based care to terminally ill people and services to child headed households
- Victim Empowerment Services- All child victims of sexual abuse in Bloemfontein receive this service. It consists of forensic assessments, general support, court preparation, intermediate services and a child witness support room
- Early childhood Development- Ongoing training is done at more than 135 crèches in Mangaung. The training includes basic managerial skills to manage a crèche as well as more advanced training for example HIV/AIDS training
- 24 Hour toll free Childline service- this is a toll free line that is accessible to all children in the Free State

Child Welfare is affiliated to Child Welfare South Africa as well as Childline SA. Both affiliations imply that Child Welfare, Bloemfontein adheres to the affiliation conditions of the national bodies. |

The object of the Child Welfare shall be to protect and promote the interests, well-being, safety and development of children within the context of family and community and to safe-guard the rights of children through a holistic, inter-sectoral, developmental and comprehensive system of social services, for which purpose it is endowed with legal personality. In order to achieve such object the Child Welfare shall inter alia-
- Provide appropriate and relevant programmes in the form and language which is accessible and acceptable to all the people in its area of operation
- Render child, family and community centred services in order to build the capacities and promote the development of all the people in its area of operation
- Facilitate the development of human and structural resources within its area of operation in order to preserve family life and enhance people's own capacity, self-reliance and the development of community support networks
- Emphasize preventive, promotive and developmental approaches in the planning and implementation of its services
- Create public awareness of the needs and rights of children, and Child Welfare's responsibility to create a nurturing environment for them
- Take steps to bring about the removal of conditions detrimental to the emotional and physical well-being of the children, families and the communities it serves
- Seek, create, liaise and / or collaborate and develop networks with government and other organisations
- Initiate and undertake fundraising and public relations activities; Advocate, promote and support legislative and other measures designed to meet the needs and protect the rights of children
- Identify, investigate, assess and undertake research in respect of social and other conditions, deficiencies in services and legislation relevant to the Child Welfare and the recipients of its services
- Compile statistical data to facilitate the Societies own planning and service rendering

- The social work services are available and accessible to all community members in Bloemfontein
- Two satellite offices have been developed in the past three years, one in Heidedal and in Mangaung, this was done to make the services accessible to all people
