SA Cares for Life is a non racial, pro-active, networking body equipping and strengthening our own initiated projects that support women, children and families affected by unplanned pregnancies, abortion, HIV and AIDS. SA Cares for Life networks with other organisations with similar vision and strive to support and develop ongoing new projects that will serve the same vision. Our vision is to establish and empower the following projects to render a diversity of services, which are pro-family, pro-care, non-racial and non-judgemental with the promise to change the destiny of children through family care centres for counselling, crisis intervention and practical support to anyone facing family violence, abuse, AIDS related problems, a crisis pregnancy or post abortion stress.
The mother homes for destitute pregnant women, places of safety for emergency and temporary care where abandoned, orphaned and other children in crisis can be cared for. Individual family care homes in the community for small children in need of parental care and family foster homes to ensure a forever family for each child. Community Based Care to address the basic needs for food, shelter and education, healthcare and psycho-social support of families affected by AIDS, within their own communities. To develop places of services within the community offering education, training, life skills and job creation to strengthen family life.
Executive Summary
SA Cares for Life offers positive alternatives to abortion caring for abandoned, HIV/AIDS affected babies and young children providing forever families for the fatherless, changing the destiny of children. A miracle story unfolded as adoptive parents took into their hearts and lives this little baby to be a testimony of God’s provision, love and purpose even in the darkest situations in life. Neo Birth Pregnancy Care Center, founded in 1993, soon became the center of hope for many women in similar crisis situations.
Today SA Cares for Life networks with more than 70 similar centers across South Africa and 8 similar centers in 6 different African countries. Prophetically, House Esther became a “home of destiny” for many at the time when abortion became legal in South Africa in 1997. Drawn by our love and practical care services, more than 500 women receive counseling at Neo Birth every year and more than 60 women are cared for yearly in our “birth mother” homes. Women from diverse circumstances, different age groups, races and religions come to find peace for their souls, healing from their past and hope for their future.
The need for housing grew rapidly and it soon became a huge challenge to house more than 10 destitute pregnant women at a time. Increasing from 5 adoptions during 1993 to ten adoptions during 1994, our unique Christian adoption programme has grown to a place where we currently place more than 150 children every year in Christian families both in South Africa and abroad. We will network with others in the field and plant the seeds and know God will bring the growth and the fruit as we carry this work further.
One step at a time following in the footsteps of Jesus, hearing His voice, feeling His heartbeat, SA Cares for Life will continue to look for opportunities to care for children, to start and support projects in answer to God’s vision to change the destiny of Africa’s children. To see the bigger picture, to take hands with others and to know God is in control is to work with joy in our steps, peace in our hearts and integrity with our finances. To God alone be the Glory For the Things He has done for Women and Children Through the Care Projects of SA Cares for Life.
SA Cares for Life is often invited to speak at schools, universities and colleges and when we are blessed by the giving of others, we know that we are not alone in our vision to change the destiny of children. When we speak at educational institutions, we share the reality of underprivileged children who often have to share pens to do homework. We teach them to be sensitive to the need of others and not to take everything for granted.
