The Kgosi Neighbourhood Foundation is established as a separate, non-religious, non-political entity. The foundation's aims are providing basic pre-school education to the needy children, who are 3-6 years, within the Belgravia/ Jeppestown community, feeding and clothing them, providing entertainment/ extramural activities as well as giving counselling through art therapy. Essentially, The Kgosi Neighbourhood Foundation rescues vulnerable neighbourhood children from the streets and channels them into this early educational programme, ultimately enabling them to gain access to the numerous free local primary schools, and giving them the head start which prevents the cycle of failure of vulnerable children.
Care of these children is holistic and includes their nourishment and counselling where necessary. Many of these neighborhood children are denied access to local government schools because they do not have birth certificates and the most rudimentary skills. Practical steps are taken to help them apply for birth certificates and childcare grants and where necessary, interface with the headmasters of the local schools takes place to make sure that children are not denied access to these primary schools.
