Micky was rescued as a puppy in Masiphumelele, a victim of a motor vehicle accident. He had a horrific degloving injury to his foreleg. The flesh had been ripped off to the bone, which was broken and infected.
In addition he was malnourished and had mange, and spent one month in hospital where he received intensive treatment. Three years later, Micky is an important part of TEARS and carries out his ambassadorial duties with aplomb.
One of the many facets of TEARS work in the disadvantaged communities is education, and Micky plays a grand role in this. We are now seeing results, as so many people are taking a real interest in their animals and display affection towards them – which is most gratifying! They show concern for their pets when they are unwell, bringing them to our clinic for treatment.
Micky is a real showman and loves attention – put him in a class of children and he is at his happiest! He is definitely Mr Personality and is an excellent example of one of our typical rescues, which shows how we turn tears of sadness into tears of joy.
