On behalf of the Board of Food and Trees of Africa (FTFA) we thank you for your kind contribution of R1300 for trees through the eBucks campaign. It is through support such as this that FTFA is able to continue to contribute to uplifting the quality of life and environments for thousands of disadvantaged individuals and communities through sustainable development, poverty alleviation and food security projects. Food and Trees of Africa work has been recognised internationally and the organisation has been acknowledged through many awards and Food and Trees of Africa is managing five programmes and currently 40 projects nationally.
These include:
The Urban Greening Fund that supports partnerships for sustainable development through tree planting, parks and food gardening projects, as well as environmental awareness and education. It facilitates partnerships between various tiers of government, Non Government Organisations and Community Based Organisations to expedite delivery and ensure sustainability of projects
The award winning Trees for Homes programme that provides trees (over 28 000 at this point), training (over 2 300 unemployed people), some employment and awareness for residents in low cost housing developments and contributes to climate mitigation through carbon storage
Responding to numerous applications for tree planting at schools community centres throughout the year and for National Arbor Week
Developing Permaculture food gardens at clinics, schools and other community centres that teach how growing food improves diet and health, supplements income and saves on grocery bills as well as addresses HIV/AIDS, health and nutrition
Working with government departments and others to develop and implement urban greening projects towards sustainable development
Running the much acclaimed national school Woolworths Trust EduPlant programme motivating schools and their communities to address poverty alleviation, greening, food security, capacity building and skills development
Producing and distributing environmental education and awareness materials and more
Thank you again for your generosity. We could not achieve all of this without your help. We welcome you at any of our projects and look forward to working with you for a healthy and green South Africa into the future.
Kind regards
