The Carel du Toit Centre, Gauteng situated in the Eastern suburbs of Pretoria teaches deaf children to Listen and Speak. On completion of the programme they can enter normal schools. We can do with new or good second hand books.
The sooner deafness is diagnosed and suitable hearing aids or a cochlear implant when necessary for profound hearing losses are fitted the sooner the process of learning can begin. The costs of this intensive programme are very high and any donations received go towards the educational costs of the children in the program. Books form an integral part of the daily teaching program and thus are indispensable.
