Daktari is a place where children have fun and open their mind to things they cannot access in their everyday life. Above all, it is an educational centre. Every morning after breakfast, the children attend Ian’s lecture about nature conservation and wildlife. In an interactive way, Daktari’s game ranger teaches them how to behave in a respectful way towards their environment. He makes them aware of animal welfare and the dangers of poaching, showing how to recognise the signs of the wild. With your support, we could give the children the relevant conditions for learning: basic equipment such as chairs and tables, blackboard and individual notebooks.
Most of the local children live next to big game reserves and have never seen a giraffe or a lion. They seldom make the distinction between cattle and wild animals, which are part of our natural heritage. Daktari lectures are an interactive way to make them emotional towards animal welfare, as a way to eradicate poaching in the area. In Daktari, we believe we can contribute to give the South African children the means to open their mind and achieve a better life. Help us in putting the first stone.
