Sail Training is fairly unknown tool of youth development and education in South Africa although its highly positive impacts with youth have been recognized worldwide. We would need tools and material to strengthen Cape Windjammers Education Trust’s capacity to effectively communicate and raise awareness for the benefits of sail-training amongst local and international stakeholders and local communities. Video camera and digital camera (new or second hand) would be used to document the future trips which would be then made into a promotional CD to raise awareness.

These items would benefit Cape Windjammers Education Trust to effectively document the future sail training trips and later on using them for promotional purposes. Documentation is also an important part of our evaluation and monitoring process of the benefits of sail training in South Africa. Good documentation and promotional tools would also help us towards our long term goal, the South African Tall Ship that could offer 6000 trainee days per year to South African youth.
