Parents are encouraged to pay a small monthly fee (R35-00) towards the staffing salaries, but in some cases even this is not possible for some of the families in this community who, on average, earn less that R1, 000-00 per month, per household of five. Many of our children come from very poor families where money is spent on essentials rather than toys. At Graceland our little ones are taught the value of sharing and of appreciating gifts.

During play time, children learn how to interact with each other in an acceptable way and, as a result, acquire essential social skills. Children are taught to communicate through verbal and non-verbal (body language) interaction. We teach the value of sharing, asking permission and courtesy.
