Thanks to our ongoing Education initiative, the care and respect for dogs has increased significantly. But most informal settlement dwellers are unable to afford proper collars and leads for their dogs. We received a large donation of new collars and leads in 2004, which enabled us to remove much unsuitable paraphernalia used for restraining purposes. Most often we would find dogs tied with wire, shoe laces, belts, chains and various other items.
