In our biggest area of intervention Mathabatha, Limpopo, we would like to organise an ACTION FUN DAY for our 87 sponsored children. The idea would be to organise several teams and have them "compete" against each other through several fun workshops like egg-in-a-spoon race, potato-sack race and water filled balloons. We would need volunteers to come up with ideas for the workshops and man them during that particular day.
How will it be accomplished?

Beneficiaries: who are they?
Our children are aged 5 to 19. But the bulk is aged 8 to 12. They are cared for within their family and community environment by our team of volunteers. We care for the children by using a holistic approach, looking at the whole spectrum of their needs like nutrition, schooling, hygiene, health, clothing, social grants, counselling and leisure activities.
They are cared for at our various aftercare centres. The Action Fun Day will take place on the grounds of our main care centre in the Mathabatha area.
What are the key challenges you foresee?
Volunteers who would be prepared to travel to our care centre, possibly from Gauteng as a team. Volunteers who would be prepared to put some time in before the actual day, to prepare the workshops and the teams, in cooperation with our head office. The Action Fun Day would have to happen on a Saturday and not during the week, as the children attend school.
What will it take to achieve this?
We have 87 orphaned and vulnerable children between the ages of 5 - 19.
- R20 per child for refreshments - R1740
- R50 gift x 8 children per winning team - R400
- R10 x 79 to the rest of the children R790
We are looking for approxmately R3000 to thoroughtly treat the children on the day. We would need the volunteers to be prepared to come to our premises and spend the day with the kids.
