Friday 19 October 2007 is Do It Day - when big-hearted people across South Africa will be volunteering their time, skills and "sweat equity" to contribute to the greater good of our country.
This will mark the third annual Do It Day where volunteers from across the country will "Do It" once again for under-resourced communities, by volunteering their time or skills for a single day. This year we want to DO IT with YOU! In 2005, 412 volunteers did it... Last year saw the campaign double in size, when 984 volunteers did it... This year, we're aiming to double it again! Engaging volunteer energy is a powerful way for development organisations to further their objectives and we'd like to challenge you to join us and make a real difference by doing it all over again! |
Participants sign up for a single day to take part in a specific development project with a non-profit organisation. Each project has clear goals, so you have a real sense of achievement at the end of the day. Projects cover a wide range - from digging a vegetable garden to upgrading computer software, packing food parcels to teaching photography. |

If you are a non-profit organisation and want to submit your project proposal for the 2007 Do It Day, you can register your proposal here. The deadline date for submissions is 31 May 2007.
2. Volunteer and signup here
If you would like to volunteer and participate in Do it Day 2007, please browse the approved projects here and choose one in your area that matches your interests or skills.
If you don't find an appropriate project, please submit your details here and we will contact you to assist further.
3. Employ an unemployed "Men on the side of the road" member to do it for you
If you are unable to participate in Do It Day yourself, we encourage you to sponsor an unemployed person to work for the day in your place, through the Men on The Side of the Road project. Your donation of R120 will hire a member of the project for the day. Unemployment in South Africa takes on a visible form through the men who stand on the side of the road every day, patiently waiting for any job that may come their way. Men on the Side of the Road (MSR) is a non-profit organisation who train and place reliable, skilled and affordable workers in jobs.
