We need volunteers to assist us with a major recruitment drive to get mentors onto the BBBSSA Programme. Thus we need to target the masses to inform them about BBBSSA and the work we are doing. A distribution of flyers to motorists has been effective in the past, but has had to be done on a small scale due to lack of funding and volunteers. BBBSSA hopes to have a huge drive on 'Do It Day', by having volunteers handing out flyers at a minimum of 10 hotspots in the Cape Peninsula. With the help of volunteers, this can be achieved.
How will it be accomplished?
By assisting us to target a bigger group we can possibly have more interested persons to become mentors on the programme and provide more children with positive role models.
Beneficiaries: who are they?
The children of BBBSSA are the ones who will receive a mentor and receive the guidance and support so desperately needed.
What are the key challenges you foresee?
The expansion of our volunteer waiting list, lack of voluteers available on Do It Day and achieving our goal by reaching a large population who can contribute positively.
What will it take to achieve this?
Persons involved would need to meet at the designated spot early in the morning and hand out flyers to the motorists until 08h30 or until all flyers are distributed. The intersections will be advised once a specific number of volunteers have confirmed their availability.
