| The Centre is a national resource providing, training, support and advice in the field of early childhood development by offering courses and training programmes aimed at enhancing individual and organizational capacity; by disseminating resources; and by carrying out research specifically related to the African context. For Do It Day, the CECD had requested a volunteer with marketing and public relations expertise. CECD is at a point where new business strategies, branding, marketing campaigns and resource mobilisation need to be pursued. |

| We wanted to raise the profile of the organisation and public understanding of the importance of early childhood development. We needed a team of experts with skills in advertising, branding and marketing to assist us to devise a marketing plan for the organisation and an advertising campaign. Do It Day volunteer Samantha Pryce met the CECD staff, visited three of the many creches we work with in Crossroads, Philippi and Delft, and then spent the day working with programme managers to devise professional marketing and PR materials and campaigns. |

| CECD only had one volunteer but she provided more insight and expertise than a team of 20! One person giving her energy and time for one day can made a huge difference. |
