Overview
We needed 15 volunteers to make a vegetable garden in Philippi. We also needed all the gardening equipment such as spades, forks, seeds, compost, trees, watering can, garden hose, seedlings. Refreshments for the creche children and volunteers.
What was achieved
We managed to make 12 vegetable beds, which included onions, beetroot, tomatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, mealies, carrots, pumpkin, squash, spinach, pepper, chillies, lettuce and parsley. As a bonus we planted strawberries and three fruit trees-peach , plum and nectarine. We gave them compost and we left all the gardening tools there so that they can maintain the garden.
What did it take and how many volunteers participated
Almost 30 volunteers participated, including people from the Netherlands and Woolworths. We arrived there after 10 am.
Who sponsored the Day
Starke Ayres gave us 10% discount on all gardening equipment. Mary Harding Donated a Bus and Driver to take us to Philippi.
Any other comments, feedback, thanks?
