| Dance requires that an enormous amount of work be done outside the classroom in order to expose learners to dance performances as well as allowing them to experience as many of the other aspects of the art form as possible. A misconception exists around seeking career opportunities within this art form and my dream is to aid in dispelling these misconceptions. I would like to take a group of grade 11 learners to the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town to show them the different and varied career opportunities that await them within the world of theatre. They will have the opportunity to tour the backstage area and to engage with full time professional sound; lighting and backstage people who work at the theatre. |

| The advantage of this experience over a lecture at school is that the learners will be able to see for themselves what goes on behind the scenes at a professional theatre and this will hopefully create a positive impression and provide them with much satisfaction. |
